Shreya R. Dixit Memorial Foundation had a very successful 10th Raksha 5K Distraction-free Driving event with corporate executives and more than 250 runners and walkers participating.
Richard Anderson, Former CEO of Delta and newly appointed CEO of Amtrak was the chief guest. Other prominent executives included Federated Insurance CEO Jeff Fetters, NorthstarMLS CEO John Mosey, Cargill executive Melanie Burke, State Minnesota Representatives: Uglem, Hornstein and Loon, and leaders from AAA Minneapolis, Minnesota Dept. of Public Safety, Minnesota Safety Council and Minnesotans for Safe Driving.
Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton proclaimed the day of the event as Distraction-free Driving Day in the state. This was the tenth year of Shreya Foundation receiving the proclamation honor.
The story of distraction and its aftermath was portrayed on a Memorial Wall filled with pictures of victims of distracted driving. In addition, a crashed car driven by a 16 year old showed the face of distraction.
