Raksha Walk to end Distracted Driving on August 11

Shreya Dixit Memorial Foundation was created to raise awareness of the dangers of distracted driving and make the roads a safer place. The public can support the foundation and its mission at the annual 5K Raksha Walk on Saturday, August 7 at Purgatory Creek Park in Eden Prairie. Registration for the event will start at 9 a.m. Accidents like the one that took Shreya’s life are all too common. According to a recent National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration study, driver distraction is to blame for nearly 80 percent of all traffic crashes. KARE 11 has launched a campaign called The Great Hang Up where we ask you to take the pledge to not text or talk on the phone while driving.
