Raksha Walk

Raksha WalkRaksha is PROTECTION

On this day, we will take the time to remember those hundreds of lives that were lost in moments of distraction on the road.

We will bear in mind the tens of thousands who were injured in crashes during the past year.

And we will have the opportunity to examine our own driving habits and make a promise to protect each other on the road through our own mindful driving.

On this day, we will walk.

Raksha Bandhan is PROMISE TO PROTECT

It is a festival that commemorates centuries old tradition in which a sister ties a ceremonial band on her brother’s wrist and prays for his protection and safety.

The brother reciprocates with a pledge to be there for her whenever she needs him. A simple band therefore binds brothers and sisters in an inseparable bond.

Distraction-Free Driving Awareness Day

Since the inception of the Raksha Walk in 2009, all Minnesota Governors proclaimed the day of Minnesota walk  as Distraction-Free Driving Awareness Day in the state  of Minnesota.

As in past years, this year Governor Mark Dayton has signed a proclamation declaring the day of the Raksha Walk, October 12, as Distraction-Free Driving Awareness Day in the state  of Minnesota.

Also, Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy has proclaimed the day of the Connecticut Raksha Walk, October 19, as Distraction-Free Driving Awareness Day in the state of Connecticut.
